On the 17th of November 2016, Fair Finance Guide will add one new member to its growing international family of member states. With the launch of the webpage etiskbankguide.no, consumers in Norway will finally be able to check to what extent Norwegian banks achieve good or bad scores in relation to corporate social responsibility, ethics and sustainability.
"We are very pleased that consumers in Norway has finally gotten a web-based tool that measures each banks policies, enabling the consumers to identify the banks that are teaming up for a better future. As such, we also hope that the Norwegian website will help ensure that we can get a race to the top in the banking industry", says director Ms. Randi Flesland in a statement from the Norwegian Consumer Council following the launch.
"The Panama Papers gave us a grim picture of how the global finance industry is working. This caused uproar in Norway, and a huge public debate. At the same time there were not many ways of actions offered for consumers. The Fair Finance Guide can help people take more informed choices in the years to come", says director in The Future in our hands, Arild Hermstad.
The Norwegian version of Fair Finance Guide is sponsored by the Financial Markets Fund, and is a partnership between the Norwegian Consumer Council and the environmental NGO Future in our hands/Framtiden i våre hender.
